Workshop to develop the Bachelor of Civil Engineering program at the University of Science and Technology – Aden

On Thursday morning, May 15, 2025, the Faculty of Engineering and Computers, in cooperation with the Deanship of Development and Quality Assurance at the University of Science and Technology – Main Center – Aden, organized a workshop to review and approve the document describing the Bachelor of Civil Engineering program, as part of the university’s ongoing efforts to update and develop its academic programs in accordance with quality standards and academic accreditation.
The workshop began with a welcoming speech by Dr. Fatima Qahtan, Assistant President of the University for Academic Affairs, in which she welcomed the attendees from the academics, experts, labor market representatives and students, stressing the importance of this workshop in supporting the development of academic programs at the university, and aligning them with modern trends in engineering education and academic accreditation standards, praising the fruitful cooperation between the various parties within the university to make these efforts a success.
The workshop was also attended by Dr. Mahmoud Al-Rumaima, Dean of the Deanship of Development and Quality Assurance, Dr. Nasr Al-Saqqaf, Dean of the College of Engineering and Computers, Dr. Khaled Al-Shamsi, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, in addition to a group of academics and experts, representatives of the labor market, and a number of students and graduates.
The workshop discussed a number of key themes, including: the program’s mission and objectives, graduate specifications, and learning outcomes. The revised curriculum was also reviewed and discussed within the program development plan, keeping pace with the latest scientific and technological developments in the field of civil engineering, and reflecting the needs of the local and regional labor market.
This workshop is part of a series of quality activities implemented by the university, within the framework of its continuous endeavor to improve the quality of higher education, and to develop academic programs in accordance with quality standards and academic accreditation requirements.
