Under the patronage and in the presence of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, Technical Education and Vocational Training, Professor Dr. Khaled Ahmed Al-Wasabi, the University of Science and Technology - Main Center Aden, signed today, Thursday, October 23, 2025, an agreement for the academic accreditation of five of its academic programs with the Council for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Higher Education. The programs for which accreditation agreements were signed included: the Medicine and Surgery program, the Oral and Dental Medicine and Surgery program, the Pharmacy program, the Civil Engineering program, and the Business Administration program. During the inauguration ceremony held in the temporary capital, Aden, His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research affirmed that the launch of the academic program accreditation phase represents a qualitative shift in the development of higher education in Yemen, given its fundamental role in ensuring the quality of academic programs and raising the efficiency of educational outputs, thereby enhancing the confidence of the local and regional community in Yemeni higher education institutions. For her part, the President of the Council for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Higher Education, Dr. Sawsan Bakhubaira, explained that this step comes within the framework of the Council’s efforts to establish an integrated national system for quality and academic accreditation, which contributes to improving the institutional and academic performance of universities and achieving national and international standards of excellence and accreditation. In this context, the Acting President of the University, Dr. Abdul Ghani Hamid Ahmed, expressed his happiness at signing this agreement, which constitutes a pivotal stage in the university’s journey towards academic excellence, stressing that the university is working according to an ambitious strategic plan aimed at obtaining national accreditation for all its programs, and applying quality standards in all its academic and administrative activities. The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Fatima Qahtan, Assistant President for Academic Affairs at the University of Science and Technology, the Dean of Development and Quality Assurance, deans of colleges, heads of departments, quality officials, and heads of self-study committees in programs nominated for accreditation, who stressed that signing the agreement represents a strategic step towards achieving national accreditation standards and promoting a culture of quality and continuous improvement at the university. Programmatic academic accreditation is one of the most important tools for developing education and ensuring its quality, as it contributes to improving curricula, developing infrastructure, developing the skills of faculty members, promoting scientific research and community service, as well as raising the efficiency of graduates of accredited programs and increasing their competitiveness in the labor market, which reflects positively on the university’s reputation and academic standing at the local and international levels. #University_of_Science_and_Technology
