Third-year students in the Mechatronics Engineering Department at the University of Science and Technology – Aden Main Campus presented and discussed their impressive projects at a project discussion event organized by the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science on Thursday, November 21, 2024. The event was held under the patronage of the Acting President of the University, Professor Abdulghani Hamid, and in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science, Dr. Nasr Al-Saqqaf, and the Assistant to the President for Student Affairs, Dr. Munir Al-Abadi, who expressed his admiration for the creativity and effort invested in the projects and emphasized the importance of supporting such events to foster a spirit of innovation among students. The student project discussion was led by Mr. Jihad Al-Abadi, Head of the Mechatronics Engineering Department, and Dr. Mohammed Saeed, the General Supervisor of Student Projects.
Projects that were presented and discussed:
Soler Tracking System
The project introduced an innovative system for tracking the sun's movement, ensuring maximum utilization of solar energy. The system relies on precise sensors and advanced control technologies to improve the efficiency of the solar panels.
Radio Control Device
The project involved designing a wireless control device that could be used in multiple applications, such as controlling household appliances or robots, using high-precision radio technologies.
Smart City
The students discussed the concept of a smart city that uses Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to improve the quality of life, through the smart and sustainable management of water resources, electricity, and traffic.
Questionnaire Nursery
A project aimed at developing an electronic system for collecting and analyzing survey data using smart interfaces to facilitate the decision-making process, whether in the educational or health fields.
Kitchen Safety
The project focused on improving safety standards in kitchens by using a system that detects fires or gas leaks and sends immediate notifications to users to avoid accidents.
Automatic Sorting BIN
This project has provided an innovative environmental solution in the form of a smart bin that automatically sorts waste into different categories (such as plastic and metals), thus promoting recycling processes.
Hydroelectric Power
The project included studying and designing a miniature model for generating electricity using water, with a focus on system efficiency and environmental sustainability.
Electronic Door Lock that Opens with a Card RFID
The students presented an electronic locking system that uses RFID technology to open doors in a safe and easy way, providing an effective alternative to traditional keys.
Hydroponic System
The project reviewed the application of hydroponics technology using smart control systems to grow crops without soil, which contributes to improving agricultural productivity and reducing resource consumption.
